There’s lot of beauty blogs out there along with scores of YouTube videos that feature how-to tutorials. I’m all for that–I think they’re wonderful and I do learn a lot.
However, one thing these blogs and videos conveniently leave out is the price of all the products they use.
Let’s face it here: We’re in a recession. I doubt most of us are ready to run out and buy the newest MAC brush and concealer to boot.
So, how do you look good on a budget? What kinds of makeup products are good AND affordable? And by “affordable,” I do NOT mean under $50. I mean under $15. I say $15 to be realistic, but, to be honest, to me, anything over $10 is expensive.
The reason why I consider most things over $10 is because I’ve spent the last two years as a full-time volunteer. I receive a small stipend that subsidizes my living expenses like gasoline, rent and, yes, clothes.
Let’s be even more upfront: I make $800 a month. In fact, less than. The simple fact of that matter is that I’m not running out and buying the newest MAC palatte of every color you can possibly imagine.
I don’t claim to be an expert of makeup or fashion. What I do claim to be is a young woman who wants to look good and look good on a very small budget.
