Most people say their biggest style influences are women like Audrey Hepburn or Diane von Furstenberg. Mine is my mom, who taught me how to shop. Here’s the lessons she taught and continues to teach me.
If something doesn’t fit, it’s not you. It’s the clothes.
Don’t squeeze into a size too small just to feel better about yourself. Clothes always look better when they fit you.
If you like it, buy it in three colors.
Wear the right size underwear.
Try things on even if you don’t like them. You may be surprised.
Don’t buy something if you hate one detail. You won’t wear it.
If it’s not on sale, wait until it is.
What lessons have you learned from your mom?
(My mom isn’t a big fan of the internet, which is why I didn’t use a photo of her and me for this post.)
