When I took these photos I thought it was a cute before and after, but after editing them, it looks like one of those diet before and afters. You know the ones–when the before photo is dark and unhappy and the after is all bright and smiley? I can assure you I am happy and the same size in both. OK, onto what I’m supposed to be talking about: What I wore to Molly’s wedding last Saturday!
Picking out an outfit for this wedding was hard. I played with wearing a long dress and even pants, but I ultimately settled on a little black dress by a brand called Jax. To say I settled is wrong, because I spent weeks hunting for the perfect dress. I bought a blue one that was more summery, but finding the right cardigan to go with it was next to impossible, so I returned it the same day I found the one I ended up wearing.
Let’s talk about the shoes for a minute, because something very strange happened when I shared on Gchat and Twitter that I was looking for, “A pair of nude heels that are 4″ and do not look like stripper shoes.” All of a sudden everyone from friends I talk to every day to people I hadn’t heard from in months started sending me links and making suggestions. There was a very strong camaraderie around the struggle to find tall shoes that are elegant and sexy, but at the same time do not cross over into stripper territory. If you’ve been to the store lately, you know what I’m talking about. I ended up buying a pair of Jessica Simpson heels from DSW. I’m consistently shocked by how much I like her clothing line and shoes. And yes, I just admitted that. I like Jessica Simpson and I like her clothing and accessories line! Please don’t take away my fashion card!
For makeup: It’s a very long and complicated process that maybe one day I’ll make a video about, but the main things you need to know are: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation and Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, which I swear is magical and looks good on most anyone. This photo, however makes me realize I should stop flat ironing my hair. Why? because I don’t think it does anything for me aside from make my hair look neat, tidy and, yes, boring. I think this winter I’ll spend some quality time with the curling iron instead. I try to lay off the heat for the most part, so don’t worry. I have a lot of hair.
How long did David take to get ready? Maybe 20 minutes. We both had an amazing time at Molly’s wedding, but I regretted not doing the Dollar Dance at my own wedding after watching how much fun it was. I guess my blood runs more Italian than Polish. I’m not sure they do the Dollar Dance other places, but the premise is you pay a dollar to dance with the bride to some polka music. Then at the end of the song, the groom has to break through all the guests. We do strange things in Pennsylvania.
