About a month ago, I picked up a natural bristle brush by Earth Therapeutics, and immediately tossed out my old plastic brush. The brush I bought wasn’t anything special, it was the only natural bristle brush my grocery store carried. There might be better ones out there, who knows. I found that after using it, my hair was shinier, healthier looking and just felt better. As someone who bleaches my hair every five years or so, the last three inches are pretty much perpetually damaged. So the fact that this brush made my ends feel not-like-straw was a definite plus in my book.
I wanted to do a test and see what my hair looked and felt like before and after brushing it 100 times before bed. I’m sure there’s a lot of research out there on how great this is for your hair, but listen, I’m writing this on my lunch break, so I have but anecdotes to offer. First, it makes my hair feel hella good. Second, it gets a lot of dust and crap out of my hair. I’m always surprised by how dirty my brush is after brushing my hair. There’s fuzz and just all sorts of grossness that I guess was just sitting in my hair. I’ve never gotten any of that stuff out with a plastic brush.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know how this will work on different hair types. My hair is coarse and thick, so it works for me. The brush cost about $10, so it’s a low risk proposition if you pick one up and don’t like it.
