15 Beauty Products for 30 Days Challenge

We’ve all been there with beauty products: The red lipstick that just didn’t quite work out or the powder you thought you would love, but in the end only liked. Most of us stick with the same products, but what if we challenged ourselves to use the makeup we’ve neglected? That’s why for the next 30 days, I’m only using 15 makeup products.

To some this may sound like a lot. I actually told my friends and both of them said something like, “I only use 5 products a day!” But if you know me, then you know I definitely have more makeup than I could possibly use in a week.

Face Products

NYX Matte Bronzer in Light*, Tarte Smooth Operator Setting Powder, MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC15, Bare Minerals Foundation in Light

I purchased MAC Studio sculpt back in February for my shoot with the Boston Globe, and have been using it on and off ever since. I picked my favorite setting powder, Tarte Smooth Operator, as well as my least favorite, Bare Minerals Foundation (yes, I know it’s a foundation, but I think I’ve made my feelings clear about that fact!). I threw in NYX Matte Bronzer since I wear sunscreen everyday and am pretty pale year round.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Blush in American Girl*

I am officially in love with Milani Baked Blushes–it’s a flattering and natural peach toned blush. NYX’s American Girl is one I’ve had for about a year and is your typical pale pink blush that gives a natural flush.

Lip Products

MAC Viva Glam V, NYX Matte Lipstick in Alabama*

Picked my favorite lipstick: MAC Gaga Viva Glam V. And one that pushes me outside my comfort zone: NYX Matte Lipstick in Alabama. I’ve been avoiding red lipstick for the past year despite accumulating quite the collection. I’ve always want to love red lipstick, but have always been too afraid to try it on an ongoing basis.

Kat Von D True Romance Palette in Poetica, Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt

Oh eyeshadow, my evergreen addiction! Though I bought the Urban Decay Naked2 palette back in January, I haven’t used it as much as I expected. I picked the Kat Von D Poetica Palette because I love its purples. The Maybelline Color Tattoo “eyeshadow” was thrown in because I bought it a few weeks ago and haven’t used it yet.

Liners, Primers and Mascara

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Gel CreamLiner in Glam Green Eyes (only the black liner), NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, Benefit BADGal LashSephora Smoky Cream Liner Bewitch Me

I used Physicians Formula Cream Liner in black all last month and was not ready to part with it. I also previously loved using the Sephora cream liner. I chose the NYX Jumbo Pencil to act as a primer because I’ve found that it creates a good base for the Kat Von D Palette mentioned above. Benefits BADGal Lash was picked because I typically don’t switch my mascaras until they expire after 3 months.

What Would You Pick?

Have you ever tried a challenge like this? Is this a challenge at all? How many beauty products do you think you use every month?

Hi! I am a beauty novice, I don’t know much about beauty. so this post was great for me. Thank you for always producing quality work!

Thanks Patricia! I’ll be doing reviews on some of these products as well, so keep any out for that next month!

I’m actually not sure how many beauty products I use. I’ll regularly use foundation, concealer, and powder, and then sometimes I’ll fiddle with eyeliner (one kind) and eyeshadow (two boxes). That’s really it, unless you count a half-dozen different skin washes and acne products 😛

Seems like there’s two camps: The skincare obsessed vs. the makeup obsessed! I definitely use more makeup products than skincare ones. I’m a skincare minimalist.
